What to expect: your ADHD assessment journey
Navigating an ADHD assessment can feel overwhelming. At [adhd-laegen.dk](https://adhd-laegen.dk), my goal is to make your journey as clear, supportive, and stress-free as possible.
My assessment process is streamlined and structured around two comprehensive consultations, available either online or in person at the clinic. For your peace of mind, the entire assessment package is offered at a fixed, transparent price.
Booking your first appointment
It starts with you booking an appointment on the website. Write in the comments field that you’d like your session in English, and let me know if you’d prefer an online session.
First consultation
At the first meeting, you will undergo an extensive medical history, including details of your childhood, upbringing, school, hobbies, and more.
We then assess the ADHD symptoms one by one.
Finally, we go through the standardized psychiatric interview, the Present State Examination, to screen for possible co-existing conditions.
You will also fill out some short questionnaires (ASRS, MDI, AQ-10).
We review the findings together and make a plan for the next session, and we book the next appointment before you leave.
Between the two consultations
In the period between the first and second consultation, you will be asked to fill out the DIVA form, which is the form used for assessing ADHD.
Second consultation: evaluation and feedback
At this meeting, we review the DIVA form together and determine whether an ADHD diagnosis can be made.
We then go on to discuss the different treatment options. If you decide you want to continue with medication, we will decide together what medicine is best suited for you, and I will write you a prescription.
The assessment is now complete, and you begin a medication-testing treatment period.
In Denmark, you have to be stable on a given medication for at least three months before you can be referred back to your GP.
